Hello there
This is the #3 Issue of Weekly Dan.
Welcome to 18 new people who have joined this week. You are nice.
Every Friday, I share 5 golden nuggets with you:
1 personal insight
1 marketing tactic
1 product for inspiration
1 thought-provoking question
1 great resource
Let’s get going.
Personal insight
My first weeks on Twitter were chaotic.
I’ve outreached influencers to review my threads, asked 100+ people to beta-test MakerBox Tools, and reposted my content on EVERY existing platform.
I still do it. But it’s not the same.
Every month there is more and more inbound marketing
If you are unfamiliar with this framework, here is a quick recap.
Outbound is about being annoying and telling everyone about you
Inbound is a more patient approach to capturing demand
A lot of people don’t like outbound marketing (me too).
But this is the only way to get things going.
Here is the harsh truth.
People will not find your product, buy it, and recommend it to friends WITHOUT your push at the beginning.
The good part — every month it will get easier. One day you will find yourself capturing demand, not creating it.
But to make it happen, you need to kick off with outbound marketing.
Marketing tactic
Twitter Algorithms are having a vacation. You felt this in August.
But here is a thing. Twitter Giveaways still work.
I’ve done them three times, and finally, it went viral.
Even if you don’t focus on info products, you should try Twitter Giveaways. You will get a lot of free users for your SaaS or Agency.
Here is a quick playbook on how to leverage Twitter Giveaways:
Create an easy-to-understand, but a desirable product
Notion template, SOP, Airtable list, Checklist, Cheatsheet
You should align the info product with your main product (landing page checklist — landing page roasting service)
This product should be interesting to at least 500 people. If this is too niche, it won’t work
Publish it on Gumroad (it’s free)
Have a simple description to repeat the key points
Have the “pay what you want” option to earn a few bucks
Have an email sequence with upselling your product
Craft a great Hook
Highlight why you’ve built this product
Empathize how it will help people
Ask people to Retweet (!!!) and Reply
Mention that person should be following to open DMs
Send your product in DMs
Manually if you are broke (it’s my choice)
Automatically if you value your time (a great tool for that)
Publish your Giveaway on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
Good luck!
Product for inspiration
One trait that is funnier than buying domains is designing a logo for MVP.
And no, this is not another meme about first-time founders.
But yes, this is an introduction to logology by Lucie Baratte and Dagobert Renouf.
There are three remarkable ideas that you can steal from them:
Unique CTA. Canva has “Sign up for free“. Logology has “see the logos that match my brand values“. Weird, but it grabs attention.
Go beyond “Sign up“ and “Get started“. Align your CTA button with Heading 1 and the next funnel step. Worth an experiment.
Comparing logology with competitors. Logology has a comparison table with Freelance designers and Logo generators.
Don’t be afraid to talk about your competitors. Instead, help users to understand the difference between your solutions.
Personal touch from the Founder. There is a lovely email from Lucie to Startup Founders. It’s somewhat lengthy but touching.
People buy from people. Tell users more about yourself. Big companies can’t do it. This is your superpower.
Thought-provoking question
How can you double your sales in September?
We had a tough Product Hunt launch on Monday. It generated 50% less revenue than we expected.
That’s why we came up with an action plan for September. Our goal is to get 200% more revenue than in August.
Do you have a revenue growth plan for September?
Sure, doubling revenue sounds terrifying until you understand how to do it.
Let’s break this goal down into four questions.
Can you get x2 more visitors than in August?
Can you increase your conversation rate x2?
Can you increase the price x2?
Can you launch a new product with the same metrics?
Don’t try to fix everything. Have one priority.
Great resource
The intellectual foundation of the Bootstrapping movement?
The Indie Maker Handbook by Pieter Levels.
But is it still relevant in 2022?
Jakob Greenfeld doubts it.
This is one of the best essays I’ve read. Check it out here.
Key topics:
Can other people replicate Pieter Levels’ success?
Why do Indie Makers hate VC-backed startups?
Why can ads solve a lot of marketing problems?
Great reading to challenge your marketing strategy.
That’s it!
Thanks for reading my newsletter. Have a lovely weekend ❤️

"Go beyond “Sign up“ and “Get started“. Align your CTA button with Heading 1 and the next funnel step. Worth an experiment." <- I like this tip! I've done the same with emails! Similar subject line with CTA.
Also, I now look forward to Friday mornings cause I see your email in my inbox =D
