Hello there

Welcome to 32 new people who have joined this week. You are nice.
Every Friday, I share 5 golden nuggets with you:
One Personal Insight
One Problem to Solve
One Long-term Trend
One Thought-provoking Question
One Great Resource
Let’s get going.
Personal Insight 🤯
Nobody needs a Twitter tool before 5000 subscribers.
But after this milestone, you will spend too much time there.
I knew my time had come. So I’ve tried a product everyone is recommending on Twitter. And …
… I’ve churned after the first month.
The product has too many useless features for the sake of it. This is what happens when customer discovery is not a priority.
Then I found an alternative Twitter tool.
Less hype and a very amateur landing page. But it replaces the need to use 4 other Twitter tools. Perfection.
Conclusion?
Don’t build shiny products. Build products that get work done.
Problem to Solve 👹
Grammarly for marketers
Here are 5 mistakes I make all the time in my writing:
Forgetting about “a” or “the”
Messing up with verbs in the “if … would” sentence
Missing the first “s” in “conscious”
Writing “superpower” with a space
Writing too many “s” in “weaknesses”
Here are 5 mistakes marketers make in their copy:
Selling the product instead of transformation
Not amplifying the problem
Not enough “You” and “Your”
Lack of social proof
Feature description without mentioning benefits
We have Grammarly for dummies like me.
But when will we have a Grammarly for marketers?
Long-term Trend 🛸
Solopreneurship → Duopreneurship
Building a one-person company in 2023 is a bad idea. I know, I know — Tim Ferriss, Pieter Levels, and Justin Welsh. But here is the truth.
It won’t work for most Entrepreneurs.
Because it’s almost unreal to cover all these areas effectively:
Product development
Marketing
Design
Support
Finance & Legal
Solution? Partnering up.
Two-person companies are way more effective.
Clear work areas. If you hate marketing with your guts, hiring a marketing Co-Founder is your only way to enjoy entrepreneurship.
Feedback is back. Now your ideas can be challenged and supported much faster. Less dumb mistakes and more conscious decisions.
Simple communication. When you are alone, you only communicate with yourself (1-way connection). In a two-person company, you also have a 1-way connection. But hiring the third person will make it worse — a 3-way connection.
This approach requires more work.
But after 2-3 months, you will see why it’s better.
Thought-provoking Question 🔋
What is your uncopyable product flow?
Feature differentiation is dead in 2022.
Any feature can be copied in days. Think about stories. Snapchat started them, but now every app has it.
If your key competitive advantage is unique features, you are in danger. One day you will find your features in a competitive product.
But there is a way to prevent it.
You just need to create a uncopyable product flow
Here is an example.
Webflow. Super customizable website builder with a steep learning curve. Perfect for customers who need a complex website.
Typedream. Minimalistic website builder with no learning curve. Perfect for digital creators who want to earn the first dollar online.
Webflow can’t copy Typedream’s flow. Because it will ruin Webflow for existing customers. They need customization, not minimalism.
Sure, Webflow can copy Typedream’s signature gradient colors. But it won’t move the needle that much.
Be uncopyable.
Great Resource 🏈
Sharing Steve Jobs keynotes is cliche.
But I couldn't say no to this video.
It’s a brilliant piece of advice for Founders who struggle with promoting their startups. And Steve Jobs got a lot to say about effective marketing.
